Water is what fails outside, and it rarely announces itself
Trim rots at the joint where a roof edge meets a wall, behind a downspout, under a drip line. By the time the paint bubbles and the wood goes soft, the water has been getting in for a long time. The same is true of a deck board that has gone green and slick, or a patio that holds a damp shadow after every storm.
Huntsville and Hampton Cove get plenty of rain and plenty of heat, and exteriors take both. The list of outside work in Robbie's own photos reads like the weather's list: rotted trim and fascia, deck cleaning, a stamped-concrete patio, an AC pad cover, a culvert and drain repair.
If you are looking at a spot that has started to look wrong, call or text 256-804-5442 and describe it. We will tell you whether it is a quick repair or the start of something bigger.
Find the moisture source first, then repair what it damaged
Replacing a rotted board without finding out why it rotted is a repair with an expiry date. Robbie is an Army National Guard veteran, and his EOD explosive-safety background is the reason the order never changes: trace the cause, then work the symptom.
That can mean a gutter that overshoots, a missing flashing detail, grade that tips toward the wall, or a drain that no longer carries what it should. Once the source is dealt with, the damaged trim, board or surface gets cut back to sound material and replaced or restored.
On the drainage side, that has included concrete culvert work, which is a different scale of job from a patch of fascia but the same logic: stop the water from doing what it is doing.
A second look after the weather has had its say
An exterior repair is only proven once it has been rained on. After a repair, the sensible habit is to walk the same spots after the first heavy rain and again when the season turns, checking that the joint is dry and the water is going where it should.
Some exterior work reaches beyond a handyman's scope. When a job requires a licensed HVAC contractor, we bring in a licensed partner. The same applies to plumbing and electrical work when it falls outside our scope or requires permitting.
Estimates are based on the specific project, not a fixed online package. Owens Cross Roads, Huntsville, Hampton Cove and the surrounding North Alabama area are all within reach. Call or text, or send the estimate request, and we will review the details with you.
